Myth of Mercury Retrograde
Mercury itself is a planet of communication. It holds the power of what we write speak, wish to communicate, and our short distance travels. It holds power over our vehicles for transporting knowledge, whether that be devices or cars.
Myth of Backwards
All planets orbit the sun at different speeds and distances, and sometimes, from Earth, a planet will give an impression it’s switching to moving backwards. This phenomenon is called a retrograde motion and is the first myth. The planet only seems to give the illusion of going backwards when it is in fact moving forward.
This brings us to the first lesson, of mercury retrogrades that despite how things might appear, you must remember you are moving forward despite delays that only make it look like you are going backwards.
Not the End of The World
Despite popular hues and cries on social media during the retrograde season being the worst, we must remember mercury goes retrograde at least four times a year. This is not a cycle we have not gone through before, and it is not full of chaos and depression, as many beginners exaggerate it to be.
Moreover, any delays or unexpected changes in this time, are opportunities to transform and grow, as our inner work is now being put to the test. This leads to the second myth of things built in retrogrades are not lasting due to the misunderstanding of delays and blockages as being bad omens. This myth is debunked by astrologers who say it is a matter of perspective.
Retrogrades are great times to actually rebuild and strengthen connections or relationships. We are advised to be cautious and not abstain. This is something to remember when investing long term during the retrograde season as most people get caught in the fear-mongering rather than trusting their own instinct.
Overall, Mercury retrogrades are a great time to review and reflect on what hasn’t previously worked out for you. These periods of time are spent with patience, extra understanding and willingness to change for the better.
