What are “The Lovers” Showing In Tarot
The Lovers Card is the sixth card in Major Arcana Deck and is associated with the zodiac sign Gemini, which can be seen in the depiction of the two lovers. These two lovers stand in the supposedly shown in the garden of Eden, before their downfall, with a choice to make. The choices are depicted behind them, in terms of divine passion as the fire, or the going after sensual pleasures depicted with the fruit tree and serpent.
The Matter Of Choice
It is important to note that the man, is looking at the woman who is looking upward at the angel. This shows the journey of transformation of understanding our conscious and apparent behaviour to acknowledge our own subconscious. In this card, the lovers represent the choice of evolution, over the idea of perfection. This is something to keep in mind while making long-term choices for yourself.
The element of Gemini is air, which gives us to hint of how these choices must be made. The air flows, and so does the harmony in a healthy relationship. This card points out that balance, compromise and duality are needed for true spiritual growth when it comes to investing in relationships or choosing pathways for ourselves, as we really have to remember there are consequences to our actions.
Union and Harmony Are Chosen
Interestingly, in the tarot, you can find the same couple, depicted in a different relationship of dependency and addiction when it comes to the Devil Card. This brings it all back down to the choice of acknowledging your own needs and values to allow for an equal exchange of energy.
To sum it up, this card asks you to acknowledge your vulnerability, and openly communicate like both naked lovers. You are being called to embrace and express the dual aspects of yourself, others and life to exist in a healthy balance of love.
